OSPA Fall 2009 contest results:

Eleanor Berry of Lyons took First Place in Traditional Verse with her poem, Circles Within a Larger Round.

James Higgins of Eugene scored with both Dueling Judges, winning an Honorable Mention with one judge and placing Second with the other judge!

Sharon Munson of Eugene took an Honorable Mention in the category, Free Verse.

Ralph Salisbury had a poem published on Verse Daily. He also has a poem appearing in the anthology Fire and Ink, and will read from the anthology at Wordstock on October 11. He and Ingrid Wendt will read at Tsunami Books on October 17. Ingrid also has three poems in the online journal BabelFruit and two poems have been accepted for the anthology Poets of the American West. Her new poetry manuscript, tentatively titled Sanctuary was a semi-finalist in the Many Mountains Moving book contest. In September she will lead two workshops: Shotpouch Creek’s “Working and Writing in the Woods,” and a writing workshop at the coast for a group of German students from the University of Freiburg.

Catherine McGuire has several poems online at NewVerse News, Found Poetry and Halfway Down the Stairs. She has poems in print accepted by Taddle Creek and Third Wednesday.

Sharon Munson has had two poems accepted for the fall 2009 Silver Boomers anthology.

Quinton Hallett’s poems appear in Groundwaters, and in two anthologies: Talk to Me, I Will Listen, and Collecting Life, Poets on Objects Known and Imagined. She taught a workshop in Taos and read with the Third Wave Poets at the Rane Gallery and the Taos Art Gallery in July.

Hank Alley’s story, “Tame,” was accepted by Gertrude Press, and his article, “The Gay Artist as Tragic Hero in The Picture of Dorian Gray,” has appeared in CLC Web: Comparative Literature and Culture, from Purdue University.

Tiger’s Eye published poems by Michael Hanner and Toni Van Deusen. Toni’s poems were also accepted by Oleander Review and Cloudbank. Her poem “Station” won third place in the CV2 48-hour poem contest. Michael and Toni attended the Centrum Port Townsend Writers’ Conference in July and read at the Northwind Gallery there.
