- American Society of Journalists and Authors: Resources for independent writers.
- Center for Excellence in Writing: at Portland State University
- Eugene Poetry Slam: Slam is the competitive performance of spoken word. It generally combines elements of theatre with the more traditional poetry reading.
- Literary Arts: Oregon based organization supporting writers, publishers, and readers. (They award the Oregon Book Awards.)
- Oregon State Poetry Association: Dedicated to develop the talents and skills of poets and to stimulate a statewide appreciation of poetry.
- Sitka Center for Art and Ecology: offers a series of workshops that focus on the relationships between nature and art, as well as internship and artist-in-residence programs.
- Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators: The society for the same (see also contests).
- Willamette Writers: An organization for Willamette Valley writers (see also contests).
- Tallahassee Writers' Association: An organization that provides fellowship among Greater Leon County area writers to help them develop their craft and get their writings published.

- Authorlink: News and more for writers.
- Bramblestory: BrambleStory allows writers to post completed poetry and prose and get feedback from others. It also has a nifty group writing engine, interactive writing exercises, some 500 links to creative writing sites. Users get profiles, comments, friends, favorites, etc.
- Byline Magazine: A monthly paper magazine for writers (see also for contests).
- Litline: Litline has closed, but its extensive links section remains.
- Poets & Writers: The website for the magazine of the same name.
- Rosedog: Resources for writers, including a showcase of unpublished work available to publishers and agents.
- Writelinks: Resources for writers, including critique groups.
- Writer's Digest: The website for the paper publication of the same name. Their link toWriter's Guidelines is especially valuable if you have work you're submitting to journals.

- Writers Hood: An e-zine publishing genre fiction, general fiction, and nonfiction. Also some info for writers.
