Poets Janice Rubin and Jack Lorts read original poems

Janice D. Rubin is a counselor and educator. She received her M.S. from the University of Oregon and her B.A. in English Literature. Her poems have been published in CIRQUE: A Literary Journal for the North Pacific Rim, the Austin International Poetry Anthology, Tiger’s Eye Poetry Journal, Glass: A Journal of Poetry, The Quizzical Chair Anthology, It Demands a Wildness of Me (Uttered Chaos Press, 2018), among others. She was nominated for the Pushcart Poetry Prize in 2008. She’s the author of Transcending Damnation Creek Trail & Other Poems (Flutter Press, 2010) and Tin Coyote (Blue Light Press, 2017).

Jack Lorts, an ex-patriot from Suburbia, fled southern California some fifty years ago to settle in rural Oregon. He has taught in small communities ever since, retiring in 2004 as superintendent of schools in Fossil, Oregon . His poems have appeared widely, if infrequently, since the late 1950s in such places as Arizona Quarterly, English Journal, Kansas Quarterly, Oregon English, Oregon East, Fishtrap Anthology, High Desert JournalArsenic Lobster, Quantum Tao, etc. He has two chapbooks out from Pudding House: The Daughter Poems & Others (2008) and The Meeting-Place of Words (2010). In 2011, Finishing Line Press published his Dear Gilbert Sorrentino and Other Poems. Uttered Chaos Press of Eugene will bring out his chapbook The Love Songs of Ephram Pratt later this year. He currently lives in The Dalles.
